Linsanity vs. Carmelawesome

Are you into Linsanity?

Nice Read.

Carmelo Anthony rejoined the New York Knicks, a team that has re-emerged as a power thanks to the antics of the previously unheralded point guard Jeremy Lin. Since becoming the Knicks’ starting point guard, the Harvard grad and D league castoff has ignited an international media frenzy, while getting a championship-starved fan base to drool from the mouth at what’s fast becoming one of the greatest underdog stories in the history of professional sports. But with the notoriously selfish Anthony eager to make an impact, many have wondered if New York’s old superstar can coexist with its new one. Despite last night’s loss to the Nets, the jury is still out.

We think it must have been kind of awkward for Anthony to return to Linsanity, so here we imagine what their conversation would have been like before yesterday's game.
Carmelo: Yo, Jeremy. Where is everyone?

Jeremy: We’re early, I guess. How’s the groin?

Carmelo: Feeling good man, feeling good. Today’s definitely the day. I’m excited to get out there.

Jeremy: That’s good news, Melo.

Carmelo: Call me Carmelo.

Jeremy: That’s good news, Carmelo. We’re excited to have you back.

Carmelo: Listen, man, I wanted to personally thank you for carrying the load while I was out. You did good. The city loves you.

Jeremy: Yeah, these last couple weeks have been pretty crazy. Derek Jeter called me last night.

Carmelo: Derek called you?

Jeremy: Yeah, just to welcome me to the brotherhood, and to remind me that us winners have to look out for each other in this town.

Carmelo: Oh, yeah, of course [laughs nervously]. He called me too when I was traded here last year.

Jeremy: Yeah, and that welcome dinner at Mayor Bloomberg’s house! How intense was that?

Carmelo: You got invited to mayor -- I mean, yeah! So intense!

Jeremy: Anyways, I’m just trying to stay focused on winning, despite how Linsane everything’s been.

Carmelo: Things have definitely been Linsane around here. But Melo’s back now, so things can go back to being Carmelawesome.

Jeremy: I’ve never heard that one before, Carmelo. Did you just invent that yourself?

Carmelo: No, I didn’t just invent that, it existed before. You just never heard about it, I guess. With all due respect, Jeremy, this is my team. In case you forgot, I’m a five-time all star, a gold medal winner, and I’m married to the La La Vasquez, of La La’s Full Court Wedding fame.

Jeremy: With all due respect, Carmelo, the Knicks were losing with you in the lineup, and have been Linning ever since I took the reins. I don’t see why we can’t coexist.

Carmelo: ...co...exist?

Jeremy: Yeah! Let our strengths complement one another. I’m a passer, and you’re a scorer. So if you get open, I can pass you the ball and you can shoot it. You know, like in a basketball game.

Carmelo: I don’t have to pass back?

Jeremy: Not if you have an open shot!

Carmelo: So I can still be a star?

Jeremy: We can both be stars.

Carmelo: What about Amare?

Jeremy: He can be our Chris Bosh.

Carmelo: Can I come to Mayor Bloomberg’s house with you sometime?

Jeremy: Of course you can, Carmelo. Of course you can.

Carmelo: Hey, Jeremy -- call me ‘Melo.

Things To Do On Valentine's Day

The Red Month. Sure it's a big deal, so whatever you have planned for February 14, be sure to make it memorable. It doesn't have to cost a fortune or be specially elaborate, but making your love one special is essential.

Here are some date ideas that are sure to please this Valentine's Day.

No.10 Reenact Your First Date
There’s a good chance that the beginning of your relationship was the time when you made the most effort to show her your romantic side, so why not turn back the clock and remind her how charming you were when you were wooing her?

No.9 Get Physical
No, not that kind of "physical." With any luck, that’s where your Valentine’s Day date will end up, but you can start things off by getting your heart rates up together doing something fun.

No.8 Go For A Massage
Massage is a must-do activity for Valentine’s Day. You can either treat her to a full-body, sensual massage with scented (and even edible) oils or lotions, or give yourself a little pampering and book a couple’s massage at a spa.

No.7 Make A Path Of Rose Petals

Anticipation is half the fun of a romantic surprise. Start the excitement when she walks in the door by leaving a trail of rose petals leading to the bedroom, where she’ll find Valentine’s Day gifts.

No.6 Get A Room

Changing up your surroundings can give an automatic boost to your love life. A hotel room eases the pressures and habits of home life, allowing you and your girl a place to run wild.

No.5 Be Homebodies

Sometimes the best Valentine’s Day gift you can give is the gift of uninterrupted time together.

No.4 24 Hours Of Chocolate

Plain and simple: Chocolate is to Valentine’s Day what Bruce Willis is to Die Hard -- the star of the show.

No.3 Get Away

If you’ve got the time, money and freedom, stretch your Valentine’s Day into a Valentine’s weekend away at a romantic resort or bed-and-breakfast. This way you can combine the relaxation of a mini-vacation with time spent alone together getting amorous.

No.2 Dress Up

Pull out all the stops and dress up in your finest. No matter what your plans are -- whether you’ve got reservations at a posh restaurant or you’re eating a meal together at home -- dressing up and good grooming will make the occasion feel extra special.

No.1 Pop The Question

If you’ve been thinking about asking her to marry you, there’s no time like Valentine’s Day for a romantic proposal.
